Embarking on your Palworld adventure can be challenging. In this in-depth guide, I’ll share essential tips and tricks to improve your gameplay and help you become a Palworld master.
There are a few things to go over since most of them can make your overall experience better, especially when they affect the beginning of the game. Let’s dive into the tips and tricks every player should know!
Modify the World Settings in Palworld
Before even starting the game, you will be prompted to choose the difficulty, and below that you will see a customize world option.
Customizing the world to fit how you want your adventure to go is very important. There are many options, and whether you’re playing with friends or alone you will be able to have fun the way you want to – so take advantage of it and play with the settings a little.
Recommended Settings for New Players
Difficulty Level – Normal (a balanced experience that allows you to learn the game mechanics without overwhelming challenges). If you’re new to gaming, choose Easy.
Resource Abundance – Increase Resource Spawn Rate to have plenty of resources on hand.
Wild Pal Behavior – Lower Wild Pal Aggressiveness (perfect for newbies and encourages exploration/learning first).
Survival Mechanics – Reduce Hunger and Thirst Depletion (again, makes the game easier overall).
Death Consequences – Minimize Death Penalties, like keeping your inventory.
Pal Management – Increase Pal Carry Capacity in order to get accustomed to the various Pals in the game.

Using the Palbox Efficiently
The palbox is a tier 2 technology item and requires 1 point to unlock, and many players are placing it wrong.
The palbox has many functions in the game. It is the place where you can store pals, it provides you with a base when you place it, and it serves as a fast travel point.
If you end up dismantling your palbox after creating your base, your base will crumble, so picking the best location from the get-go will be important.
You can do missions to upgrade the Base Level. For every level it’s upgraded you will unlock an extra Working Pal slot. At level 10 you are allowed to place another Base.
Materials Will Respawn Over Time in Palworld
Farmable materials will respawn over time, so if you find an ore deposit, and completely clear it your first time around, don’t worry!
By playing the game, after some time you will be able to farm them again. It is also a good idea to place a base next to one such material to have an efficient material farm.
Catch Duplicates of Pals You Already Have
Having a wide variety of pals at your disposal will be important. Also important is to catch many different pal species and also have a decent amount of duplicates in your palbox of pals you already have.
Despite looking similar, each pal you can catch is unique, and utilizing the uniqueness to its full effect will be important.
How to Use Duplicates Effectively
Now, let’s get a bit more in-depth with some strategies and things you should always have in mind.
- Mark important pals as favorites to quickly assemble teams or assign tasks.
- Breed pals with desirable traits to pass on superior stats and passive skills to offspring.
- Experiment with cross-species breeding for rare combinations of passives.
- Ensure all pals gain experience by rotating them into your active team (higher levels are always better in the game)
- Assign pals with the right passives in your base for various tasks (multiple pals with similar passives maximizes productivity)

Inspect Pals to Check Their Work Suitability
Each pal species has a set number of things they will be good at.
While inspecting a pal on the right side of the status screen you will see their work suitability, and that translates to what tasks that pal can do in your base.
Here is a list of the tasks you to prioritize, and assign your pals to work on in your base.
- Watering
- Planting
- Gathering
- Mining
- Lumberjacking
- Kindling
These tasks can help you create automated berry farms with the help of your pals.
Have the Right Passive Skills
I cannot stress enough how important passive abilities are, and how much they can impact how well you can get things done both in your base and also while fighting.
Each pal has a set of unique passive skills. It can be one, it can be many, they can all be good, or even all of them be bad. You never know what you will get.
That’s why it is important to have many duplicates of each pal in your palbox. Each pal you catch will have different passive skills, and using the right pal with the correct passive skill will make your life easier.
Having a pal that does busy work around your base with a skill that increases their work speed will be much more beneficial to a pal with a skill that increases their combat prowess, but reduces their work speed.
Check your pals and their passive skills! It may take some time to find the one you need, but it’s better to lay down a solid foundation, than having to go back later on and try to fix things while your attention needs to be elsewhere.
Use the Statue of Power in Palworld
The Statue of Power is a tier 6 technology item that requires 2 points to unlock. You can make offerings to enhance the stats of the Players and their pals.
Do not neglect this! The stat buffs may look minor, but if you have already found pals that play a major part in running your base smoothly, upgrade their work speed to make the tasks faster.
You can also increase your character’s stats which can also be useful.

Farm Materials at Night
Nighttime can be scary, and most players would avoid doing anything that would take them away from their base.
Visibility is bad, temperature drops, and if you end up getting attacked you will have a hard time making it back alive.
But there are a couple of benefits to going out at night. Certain pals are only available at night, sleeping pals are easier to catch, and most importantly Lifmunk Effigies have a bright green shine to them that can be seen from afar making the grind easier.
Use Crates to Be More Efficient in Palworld
When you have your pals gather materials, once they collect enough they will walk to the closest chest, put them in, and then go back to gather more.
If the chests are far away, you will time watching them go back and forth. If you place chests close to where your pals are working, they won’t waste time walking around, and the workflow will be much better.
This is a very straightforward solution in the early game, to have more resources as you go.
Always Remember to Use Disassemble
When you place furniture you are bound to place it wrong or have second thoughts about the placement.
Most players will just take out their tools, and start hitting the item to destroy it. Don’t do that.
When you open your wheel to place anything, there is a prompt below the wheel that allows players to open disassemble mode, and destroy anything placed while getting refunded the materials.

Remember to Capture Boss Pals in Dungeons
While exploring dungeons you will come across boss-type pals at the end.
They will be larger, aggressive, and hard to take down. Most players will defeat them without much thought, but you will surprised to hear that not only you can catch them but they will also keep their larger size both in the base and in battles.
What Happens When You Die in Palworld
At some point, you will find yourself against a wall, and will probably end up dying.
Most survival games have death penalties but Palworld has a different approach. When you die in battle, a backpack will appear in the place where you died with everything you had on you saved.
You will only need to go back there, pick the backpack back up, and you will just need to go back to a safe space.
On the other hand, if you end up losing a pal in battle, you will only need to place it in the palbox, and after some time they will be back and running as if nothing happened.
Maximize Pal Synergy in Your Team
Creating a team where pals enhance each other’s strengths can greatly improve your gameplay experience.
For instance, combining a pal with healing abilities with one that can shield allies provides solid defense during tough battles.
As mentioned before, in your base, assign pals with complementary work skills to the same tasks to boost efficiency. Experiment with different team compositions to find the synergy that best suits your playstyle – and to discover various synergies too.
Take Advantage of Pal Fusion for Enhanced Abilities
Pal Fusion is a powerful feature that allows you to merge two pals into a single, stronger pal. To make the most of this, select pals with solid, useful traits and abilities.
For example, fusing a pal with high attack power with one that has beneficial passive skills can result in a perfect battle-focused Pal with both the passive and high attack.
Before fusing, make sure to level up your pals to maximize the potential of the fusion result. Keep in mind that the fusion process is irreversible – so don’t use pals you don’t want to lose.

Automate Resource Production with Advanced Machinery
Unlocking advanced machinery can significantly reduce the time you spend on gathering resources. Build devices like automated harvesters and drills, and assign pals with high efficiency stats to operate them.
This setup allows continuous production of essential materials like ores and crops without constant supervision. As a result, you can focus on exploration and quests while your base evolves.
Utilize Elemental Strengths and Weaknesses in Battles
Understanding the elemental system is key to winning battles. Each pal belongs to an element, such as fire, water, or earth, and these elements interact differently, following the traditional “rock, paper, scissors” mechanic (one element is strong against another, but weak against a third).
For example, water pals are strong against fire but weak against electric pals.
Before entering a battle, assess your opponents’ elements and adjust your team accordingly. Carry a diverse team to be prepared for any elemental matchup as simply changing elements can completely turn the battle’s results around.
Explore Dungeons Thoroughly for Rare Loot
Dungeons are potential Pandora’s boxes full of amazing loot. Beyond the main path, there are often hidden rooms and secret passages containing rare items, exclusive pals, and valuable resources.
Equip yourself with tools like pickaxes or keys to access these hidden areas and always keep an eye out for them.
